What Happens in a Treatment?

Independent research by Dr Robert Becker and Dr John Zimmerman during the 1980’s investigated what happens whilst people practice therapies like Reiki. They found that not only do the brain wave patterns of practitioner and receiver become synchronised in the alpha state, characteristic of deep relaxation and meditation, but they pulse in unison with the earth’s magnetic field, known as the Schuman Resonance. During these moments, the biomagnetic field of the practitioners’ hands is at least 1000 times greater than normal, and not as a result of internal body current. Toni Bunnell (1997) suggests that the linking of energy fields between practitioner and earth allows the practitioner to draw on the ‘infinite energy source’ or ‘universal energy field’ via the Schuman Resonance. Prof Paul Davies and Dr John Gribben in The Matter Myth (1991), discuss the quantum physics view of a ‘living universe’ in which everything is connected in a ‘living web of interdependence’. All of this supports the subjective experience of ‘oneness’ and ‘expanded consciousness’ related by those who regularly receive or self-treat with Reiki.

Zimmerman (1990) in the USA and Seto (1992) in Japan further investigated the large pulsating biomagnetic field that is emitted from the hands of energy practitioners whilst they work. They discovered that the pulses are in the same frequencies as brain waves, and sweep up and down from 0.3 – 30 Hz, focusing mostly in 7 – 8 Hz , alpha state. Independent medical research has shown that this range of frequencies will stimulate healing in the body, with specific frequencies being suitable for different tissues. For example, 2 Hz encourages nerve regeneration, 7 Hz bone growth, 10Hz ligament mending, and 15 Hz capillary formation. Physiotherapy equipment based on these principles has been designed to aid soft tissue regeneration, and ultra sound technology is commonly used to clear clogged arteries and disintegrate kidney stones. Also, it has been known for many years that placing an electrical coil around a fracture that refuses to mend will stimulate bone growth and repair.

Becker explains that ‘brain waves’ are not confined to the brain, but travel throughout the body via the perineural system, the sheaths of connective tissue surrounding all nerves. During a treatment, these waves begin as relatively weak pulses in the thalamus of the practitioner’s brain, and gather cumulative strength as they flow to the peripheral nerves of the body, including the hands. The same effect is mirrored in the person receiving treatment, and Becker suggests that it is this system, more than any other, that regulates injury repair and system rebalance. This highlights one of the special features of Reiki (and similar therapies), that both practitioner and client receive the benefits of a treatment, which makes it very efficient.

It is interesting to note that Dr Becker carried out his study on a world-wide array of cross-cultural subjects, and no matter what their belief systems or customs, or how opposed to each other their customs were, all tested the same. Part of Reiki’s growing popularity is that it does not impose a set of beliefs, and can therefore be used by people of any background and faith, or none at all. This neutrality makes it particularly appropriate to a medical or prison setting.

60,00 euros per session/treatment

A treatment can last anywhere between an hour to an hour and a half depending on the individual and the healing that is needed.

It is completely dependent on the client on the number of treatments they wish to receive as each client is unique. For chronice conditions I would recommend 4 to 6 full healing sessions which will allow a cumulative build up of the energy in the client.  This is usually enough to sort out stress, tension, anxiety, sleeplessness and emotional problems; physical stuff can take a little longer. Yet, others choose to have reiki ‘top-ups’ as a preventative measure or for pampering.

Special Promotion

Every 5 new clients that you refer to me who book and pay for a session, you will receive your next Reiki Session FREE.

I keep a record of all the referrals received and once you have reached the target, I will be in contact with you to give you the good news!

: Remind your friends and family to mention your name at their first Reiki session so the referral can be recorded under your name.

“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are” – Rachel Naomi Remen

What is Energy?

Energy is our life force, if we are to achieve all that we desire then we need to maximise our energy levels.  The higher your energy levels, the better you feel and the more likely you are to achieve your results as you will put all your ‘energy’ into it.  In Japan, energy is called ‘Ki’, meaning universal life force.  Energy constantly flows through our seven energy centres, or our chakras although we do not physically see it.

Energy is something that we can all feel but most of us feel it unconsciously.  Close your eyes and remember a time when you met someone with whom you like to spend time.  Notice how you feel when you think of this person.  On the other hand, remember spending time with someone with whom you don’t like to spend time with.  Notice how you feel when you think of this person.  Did you notice the difference in what you were feeling?  While thinking of spending time with someone you like you feel happy, relaxed, things flow and time passes quickly.  However, when you spend time with someone you don’t like to hang out with, then you feel tense, awkward, and out of sync and time seems to stand still.  You react in this way as you are sensing the other person’s energy.

The Seven Chakras

The word Chakra comes from an ancient Indian language known as Sanskrit, Chakra means vortex, spinning wheel or circle (open to the front and back).  The chakras spin in a clockwise direction and are shaped like a spinning fan.  Each chakra spins at its own frequency ensuring that the ki (universal life force) is drawn into body to keep the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of the body in balance.  The chakras also spin outward when releasing unwanted ki or when they are dealing with other people or situations.  The first three chakras (lower chakras) are primarily concerned with physical and material issues, while the heart chakra onwards is primarily concerned with spiritual issues (upper chakras).

We now live in a world where the pace appears to be getting faster almost to the point where we are on the go twenty four seven, or feel that we should be.  As we push ourselves forward in our lives, many of us are losing the balance and harmony.  Instead of choosing to enjoy each day and being grateful for what we have, we worry about the past and the future and let the present pass us by.  All this worry and stress in our daily lives affects our energy centres and they become blocked i.e. the energy does not flow freely through the chakras.    We are in control of our energy flow – if we hold negative thoughts then our chakras become dirty with dense energy which means that this constricts the flow of energy through our chakras which leaves us feeling sluggish and unbalance or ‘out of sorts’.

A ‘block’ is a place where energy is trapped or constricted.  In dealing with a block, you need to get the energy moving which is what Reiki does.  When energy flows through the whole body it creates harmony and releases dis-ease.  Reiki assists to bring the chakras into alignment and balance.

Below I’ve provided a summary of the main charteristics of the seven chakras. There is so much more information available on the chakras if you want more detail. Although there are many chakras, we generally concern ourselves with the major seven chakras which are located throughout the body, next to a hormonal gland, as follows:

7th ChakraCrown
Thought, Universal identity, Knowingess (violet)
The ‘crown chakra’ relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is located at the top of the head.  It is our connection to the collective consciousness and the greater world beyond. It is believed that this is where the soul enters the physical body at birth and departs at the time of death.  When balanced and developed this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, & harmony.

6th Chakra – Third Eye
Light, Archetypal identity, Intuition (indigo)
This chakra is known as the brow chakra or ‘third eye’ center.  It is located slightly above and between the eye brows.  Its main function is the centre of inner vision.  This chakra is the place of intuition and soul knowledge. As such it opens our psychic and spiritual awareness faculties as well as our understanding of archetypal levels. When in balance it allows us to have insight and knowledge.

5th ChakraThroat
Sound, Creative identity, self-expression (blue)
This is the chakra located at the throat and is related to communication, self expression and creativity.  It allows for free communication helping us feel centered and happy.  It also helps us while we are meditating to connect with our higher guidance.  The chakra is connected to your inner self and is deeply connected to the soul and allows you to listen as your soul speaks.

4th ChakraHeart
Love, Compassion, Social identity, self-acceptance (Green)
The ‘heart chakra’ is located at the center of your chest.  It is related to love and compassion.  The chakra connects the lower ego/physical self to the higher soul/spiritual self.  In balance our fourth chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, and feel a deep sense of peace and centeredness.  We allow ourselves to love unconditionally.

3rd Chakra – Solar Plexus
Desire, Personal Power (Yellow)
The ‘solar plexus’ chakra is known as the ‘power chakra’, located at the solar plexus. Its main function is to supply energy in the form of heat, power and enthusiasm.  It rules our consciousness of decision, creative expression, personal power, will and autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When in balance this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity and we become aware of divine guidance flowing into our lives.

2nd Chakra Sacral
Creativity, Manifestation, Emotional identity (Orange)
The ‘sacral chakra’ is located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs. It relates to the water element and our emotions and sexuality.  Its main function is to provide a sense of self – our inner self/inner child. It is the source of creativity and inspiration.  This chakra controls our appetite for sensation, be it through sound, smell, taste, touch or sight. Ideally this chakra brings us depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment and the ability to accept change.

1st Chakra – Root
Support, Survival, Grounding (Red)
The ‘root chakra’ is located at the base of the spine and forms our foundation. It represents the element earth and is related to our survival instincts (food, shelter and protection).  It stimulates the urge for us to take care of and stand up for ourselves, in order to stay alive.  It appeals to our sense of grounding and connection to our physical bodies and physical world. Ideally this chakra brings us security and presence in the here and now.

How is a Reiki treatment given?

Filed under: How is a Reiki Treatment Given — reikihealingart @ 8:19 pm

Reiki treatments can be given to adults, children and babies.

All you need to do, is remove your shoes, remain fully clothed and lie back on a comfortable Reiki table, covered with a blanket in a quiet setting of soft music and soft lightening.

A Reiki Treatment is normally 60 minutes to 90 minutes.

The Practitioner’s hands are placed gently on the main energy points (chakra’s) on your body. This will allow the optimum amount of energy to flow through into your body. The energy points include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The Reiki energy works to dissolve energy blocks and creates balance in body, mind and spirit.

After the Reiki Treatment, you are encouraged to drink water, as it helps with the energy flow. The energy works with you for some time after the treatment

Having a Reiki Treatment is a wonderful comforting, nurturing, gentle experience and yet at the same time healing occurs on a deep level. Reiki works by allowing universal life force energy to flow through the Practitioner to the Client.

Reiki works on four levels, Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual levels.

Reiki is one of the most effective ways of transferring Universal Life Force Energy.

The most common experience is a feeling of peace, relaxation security and comfort.

What Reiki is

Filed under: What Reiki is — reikihealingart @ 8:12 pm

Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that allows everyone to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve health and enhance the quality of life.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense but is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master. Its use is not dependent on one’s intellectual capacity or spiritual development, and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through you and surrounds you. Reiki treats the whole person including mind, body, emotions, and spirit and creates many beneficial benefits including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is simple, natural and safe method of healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.

Reiki (pronounced ray key) is a laying on of hands healing technique.

Rei: The most accepted definition of the word “Rei” is that it means “universal”, ie it is present everywhere, unlimited, abundant. It is also interpreted as your higher consciousness, higher knowing, God self.

Ki: Ki is the Life Force. It is a non-physical energy that flows through all living things. As long as something is alive, it has life force circulating through it and surrounding it. If your life force is low or there is a restriction in its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick. Life force plays an important role in everything we do. It flows through the body and is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.

Reiki can be used as relaxation tool, for physical healing, for empowerment on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.
